Athletic Therapy

Athletic Therapy is the prevention, immediate care, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal
injuries by a Certified Athletic Therapist. It involves the assessment and treatment of
dysfunction caused by pain and/or injury in order to develop, maintain and maximize
independence. Patients and clients range from individuals attending weekly strength and
conditioning visits to individuals with physical injuries incurred from sports, recreational
activities, accidents, activities of daily living and occupational stresses.

Athletic Therapy treatments can include the following:

  • Strength and conditioning programs
  • Sport specific training and rehabilitation
  • Modalities such as therapeutic ultrasound to relieve pain, reduce swelling, speed up the
healing process, improve movement and function
  • Manual therapy (mulligans and myofascial release)
  • Injury prevention
  • Pre and post-operative care
  • Custom bracing
  • Taping procedures for joint stability and/or muscle activation/recruitment (kinesiotaping)
  • Prescription of supportive devices such as compression stockings and return to sport aides

Our Certified Athletic Therapists work in conjunction with all of our health professionals to
ensure that you receive the treatment that is tailored to your individual needs.
